I spent the day being reasonably responsible, but when "quittin' time" came around, I actually did! I posted my earlier card on a Yahoo group I'm in, and one of the responses I got was that I should submit it for the challenge on K Werner Design - a blog that posts color inspiration challenges. I've seen other bloggers posting cards they've made for these challenges, but never did one myself (I figured I was busy enough with Splitcoast, work, family, etc.). Anyway, I hopped over to see if that card did, in fact, fit the criteria. I decided not so much, but loved what the challenge was, so I decided to play along. Here's the challenge:
We were supposed to use mostly black and white (and gray), and a tiny bit of a fourth color (of our choice). I really wanted to use the color in the picture because I think it's FABULOUS with the neutrals, but I didn't have anything that would work, so I shifted gears and went with coral instead, and made this card:
I loved the shaped hem on the spread, and the fact that it was edged in black, so that's why I did the edges of my card like I did. I decided that this truly needed to be a "less is more" card, so I just did some layering with a small, very open image with a lot of white space and a tiny word embossed on one of the layers. The word is from Inkadinkado's "Round Frames" set, and the flowers are from Stampin'Up!s "Too Terrific Tags" set. I used my Bic Mark It markers and some Fiskars decorative-edge scissors and that's the whole story! No late-night stamping this go-'round, no over-abundance of embellishments - just plain and simple! It's early enough to maybe try out another trick or two...
