Okay, so - true to my word - I took a hiatus of sorts from posting here. Took a little jaunt to upstate New York for a visit and to deposit my husband there for a while and to collect some things I've had in storage there for a year and a half, among other things. Came back here to North Carolina sans spouse (and I miss him already!), but did what I generally do on solo road trips - introspection, life review, soul-searching sorts of things...
If you've never driven anywhere totally by yourself (and I mean more than a couple of hours), I STRONGLY recommend it! You learn a whole lot about yourself if you forego the music and just listen to your thoughts. Learn a bit about this great country we live in and the people we live in it with, too, if you care to look around as you go.
I stopped in Pennsylvania to meet a couple of new (brand new!) friends, and that was worthwhile, too. Learned something from both of them, as well. They say that every person we meet has information for us, and we for them, and that's why we encounter each other. We seldom take the time to think about this information exchange, but I included that in my ponderings as I drove. The conversation made me look again at my belief system, and decide which parts were still valid for me, and if I had anything new to add, or old to discard. Good to clean out those dusty corners, say I.
It also happens that these two new friends (Hi Kathy and Korin!) are very talented and creative people (Korin is "Inkydoodle" in my blog list), and I feel more or less shamed by my lack of "creative sharing" up to this point on my blog. Most of the things I've made have been given away before I captured them on film, and I've been a little distracted of late with moving, job hunting, etc. No excuse, though! I have done a few things, and really should share more.
Most of what I've been mulling over lately is new ways to use old stuff I've had hanging around for way too long now, so maybe some of those ideas will be useful in some way. I'm also about to launch a new business idea (baby-stepping to see how it goes), so there could be some sharing there, as well.
Anyway, I've begun to ramble a bit, so I'm signing off for now, but SOON I will make this blog prettier and more functional, and SOON I will include some pictures and links and other things to make it more interesting to visit. Y'all come back now, ya hear?
